Quinta San Francisco combines the classic and the modern,
in a space of light and tranquility, very suitable for resting after a long day walking or enjoying different leisure and cultural activities in a privileged environment.
The hotel takes its name from the 14th century Convent of San Francisco, whose ruins are part of the property.
Quinta San Francisco is a Rural Hotel ****,
in the austere spirit of the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James).
21 rooms on a 1.5 Ha. plot, surrounded by nature and places where you can sit down to write the experiences of the day or read a good book.
Quinta San Francisco arises from the rehabilitation of a family hunting lodge, built on the slopes of the Castrojeriz Castle and open to the Castilian countryside. Guided by Gaztelu Arquitectos, the building has been transformed into a modern lodging on the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) to meet the growing demand of those who want to enjoy the experience in a quality hostel with exquisite treatment.
Quinta San Francisco was conceived to serve pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) and all those travelers who value a good shower, a wraparound bed with cotton sheets and a pleasant environment at the end of the day. Quinta San Francisco also combines the connectivity offered by the digital world of tablets and fiber optic Wi-Fi, with the peace and rest that a good book gives on a garden bench.
We have an area with massage rooms, sauna, Turkish baths and hot beds for you to relax after a long day.
If you come in a group and want to enjoy cooking, we have La Bodega at your disposal with everything you need, in the best tradition of gastronomic societies.
We like nature, the open space, the garden, the orchard and our fruit trees that the Garbanzuelo River waters as it passes through the property.
We produce our own renewable electricity.
We put at your disposal the best local products in our gourmet shop, including artisan sweets from the neighboring Santa Clara Convent
Castrojeriz is the starting place to visit the Castilian Romanesque, a stage away from Frómista, and has magnificent monuments such as the Church of San Juan, the Collegiate Church of Santa María del Manzano, the Monastery of San Antón, the Church of Santo Domingo, the Convent of Santa Clara and the ruins of the castle. In addition, the hotel is located 50 kilometers from the Cathedral of Santa María de Burgos, a World Heritage Site and one of the main Gothic cathedrals of Christendom.
For those who practice hiking and cycling, beyond the emblematic route of the Camino de Santiago, the entire province of Burgos has countless routes and numerous protected natural areas, such as the Loras Geopark and the Ebro Gorge, among others.
And 45 minutes away from the hotel, golf fans have three wonderful facilities to practice this sport: El Golf de Lerma, Golf Saldaña and Riocerezo Golf.
All this without forgetting to savor the exquisite gastronomy of the area that brings together the best flavors of Burgos cuisine.
The geographical area of Castrojeriz is also well known by hunting lovers. It is one of the reference areas for small game hunting in the north of Spain. The hotel itself was originally a family hunting lodge.
